EPA set biomass-based diesel volumes at 5.4 billion gallons for 2026 and 5.7 billion gallons for 2027. Total advanced volumes push demand even higher — requiring an estimated 6.07 billion gallons in 2026 and 6.45 billion gallons in 2027.
The Biodiesel Coalition of Missouri supports the rule, noting it sends a clear signal to producers, fuel marketers and farmers to expand production and blending.
| 2025 | 2026 | 2027 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| BBD (D4) gallons (bil) | 3.35 | 5.4 | 5.7 |
| BBD (D4) RINs | 5.36 | 8.86 | 8.95 |
| BBD Supplemental RINs | – | 0.21 | 0.25 |
| Total BBD RINs | 5.36 | 9.07 | 9.2 |
| Advanced Volume RINs | 7.33 | 10.82 | 10.98 |
| Advanced Supplemental RINs | – | 0.28 | 0.34 |
| Total Advanced RINs | 7.33 | 11.1 | 11.32 |
EPA also finalized supplemental volumes for biomass-based diesel and advanced biofuels. These account for 70% of small refinery exemptions granted or estimated between 2023 and 2025.
More biodiesel gallons = more soybean oil demand. That strengthens local markets, supports prices and keeps more value in Missouri.
